What your learners see

Learners open Scaffold content from the same place as the rest of their coursework. They do not need a separate Scaffold account or another sign-in.

What they see depends on whether you created a Page or a Slideshow.

Preview the learner experience

Select Preview while authoring to check your content from a learner’s point of view. The editing controls disappear, leaving the content and activities learners will use.

Answers you submit in Preview are for testing only. They are not recorded as learner work and do not affect a real grade.

Pages and slideshows

Learners move through each format differently:

• A Page is a scrolling lesson. Learners read and complete activities in the order they appear.
• A Slideshow presents one slide at a time. Learners use the previous and next controls to move between slides and can open the presentation in fullscreen when their browser allows it.

Slideshow is currently in beta, so its presentation and controls may still change.

What happens on submit

When a learner selects Submit on a question or quiz:

• Scaffold checks the response against the answer you set.
• The learner sees their result and any feedback available at that point.
• If the activity is graded, their learning platform can record the score.

For a quiz, your settings determine whether learners review each answer as they go or see their results after submitting the whole quiz.

Attempts and returning to an activity

Question settings control how many attempts a learner can make. If you leave the attempt limit empty, they can keep trying. If you set a limit, Scaffold shows how many attempts remain.

Quiz settings control when answers are reviewed and whether learners can try a question again. Your learning platform may also control whether the whole activity can be attempted again.

When learners return to an activity, their saved answers and results can be shown again. What they can change depends on the attempts remaining and the settings you chose.

Check before publishing

Use Preview to:

• Submit both correct and incorrect answers.
• Check when your feedback appears.
• Move through every slide in a slideshow.
• Check that content is clear without the editing controls.
